FAQ

Please see below for some questions frequently asked by our clients. If there’s anything you would like to ask that is not in this FAQ, please don’t hesitate to get in touch!

Our company is in the beautiful English town of Frome, not far from the UNESCO World Heritage city of Bath. Tony visits Japan at least once yearly for client meetings and London when required. Of course, we are also available for video meetings at any time.

We can produce copywriting and translation in either US or UK English. For US English, we often follow the Chicago Manual of Style, and for UK English, we follow the Economist Style Guide. We are also familiar with AP style, the Society of Writers, Editors, and Translators (SWET) Japan style sheet and the Japan Tourism Agency’s voluminous style guide for tourism-related content.

For translation, we charge either per hour or per word (English to Japanese) and character (Japanese to English). For all other tasks, we charge per hour or per project. We provide estimates in Sterling, Yen, Euro or US Dollars.

As every client and job is different, please contact us so that we can discuss your project and provide an estimate if required.

WeDoJapan is a limited company based in the UK and is not subject to Japanese consumption tax or withholding tax. Please contact us if a certificate of residency from the UK tax authorities is required. Currently, we do not charge UK VAT.

We receive payments by international bank transfer to our UK account, PayPal or the money transfer service WISE.

Yes, we use AI, but to augment not replace human expertise. AI such as DeepL and ChatGPT can speed up research, brainstorming, consistency checks and other tasks. However, these are just tools, while the value we provide to clients relies on our bilingual expertise, professional writing skills and deep understanding of Japan’s language, culture and business environment.

Please get in touch to discuss how we can help your business, or to receive a no obligation estimate.
